Bio / presentation

Bherria is an initiative launched in 2017 by the Basque Government and the Basque Council for Volunteering to strengthen collaboration between public institutions and active citizens in the Basque Country. Aimed at technical and political staff in local administrations, Bherria promotes new models of public-social relationships through training, shared learning, and knowledge exchange. It is structured around three main pillars: Prestakuntza (training), Komunitatea (learning community), and Topaketak (thematic meetings). Tools such as the “Deck of Attributes” and the “Bherria Residency” support reflection and collaborative action. To date, over 300 professionals from 56 municipalities have joined this network, which is becoming a reference in democratic innovation and civic participation in the region.
