Bio / presentation
The Cubit Youth Library, located in the Azucarera del Rabal (Zaragoza), is a pioneering public service aimed at young people, integrating social media tools (Library 2.0). It results from a collaboration between Zaragoza City Council, the Bertelsmann Foundation, and Caja de Ahorros de la Inmaculada. Housed within Zaragoza Activa, it connects youth services with employment, entrepreneurship, and digital culture. Designed by architect Christian Schmitz, the library consists of two main spaces: a three-story glass cube (with Internet access, a periodicals and comics area, and a multi-use consultation and activity space) and the Tower of Books, which stores the main collection. The Cubit Youth Library offers information services, lending, consultation, cultural and reading activities, user training, Internet access, and reprography. With its innovative design, specialized collection, and integrated services, it is considered a national benchmark for the new generation of youth-oriented public libraries in Spain.
