Bio / presentation
Big Bouncers is a collective of stage creators founded in Barcelona in 2012 by Anna Rubirola, Cecilia Colacrai, and Mireia de Querol. Their work unfolds along three lines: stage creation, site-specific performance, and pedagogy. Through a movement-based research approach, they develop a unique language that fuses body, objects, light, sound, and spoken word. They have performed pieces such as Big Bounce, Jungla, O.V.N.I., and Plàncton in venues including Mercat de les Flors, CCCB, and FiraTàrrega. In parallel, they offer workshops and educational programs for diverse audiences. Their innovative and context-sensitive approach has earned them recognition like the Sebastià Gasch Award (FAD, 2015). Big Bouncers advocates for an expanded form of dance that inhabits both theatrical and everyday spaces, fostering public engagement and cross-disciplinary exploration.
