Bio / presentation
Calatea is a contemporary theatre company based in Madrid, also active in Barcelona and Pamplona. Composed of professionals in the performing arts, philosophy, and education, Calatea focuses on stage creation, social engagement, and training. Its mission is to foster collective thinking and social transformation through theatre as an artistic and pedagogical tool. Notable among its initiatives is the Piel con Piel festival, which involves young people in the co-creation of stage pieces on socially relevant issues. Calatea also manages the La Praga Arts Center, an independent cultural space dedicated to artistic creation, education, and community interaction. Their work blends scenic innovation, community-based projects, and artistic education in both formal and informal settings.
