Bio / presentation
The Cathedral of the Savior, known as La Seo, is one of Zaragoza’s most important monuments and one of the city’s two cathedrals, along with the Basilica of El Pilar. It stands on the site of the former Roman forum of Caesaraugusta and was later the main mosque during Muslim rule. Construction began in the 12th century, and over time the cathedral incorporated Romanesque, Gothic, Mudéjar, Renaissance, and Baroque styles, reflecting the city's layered history. Its Gothic-Mudéjar apse, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the magnificent main altarpiece are especially noteworthy. Inside, it houses the Tapestry Museum, home to one of the world’s finest collections. La Seo is a symbol of Aragón’s cultural and religious coexistence, and its artistic and architectural wealth make it a must-see in Zaragoza.
