Bio / presentation

The Casa de la Libertad, located on Sucre’s Plaza 25 de Mayo, is one of Bolivia’s most emblematic heritage sites. It is the place where the country’s Act of Independence was signed on August 6, 1825, making it a foundational symbol of the nation. Today, it functions as a museum and cultural center under the management of the Cultural Foundation of the Central Bank of Bolivia. Its mission is to preserve, research, and share Bolivia’s historical, political, and artistic heritage. The Casa hosts a permanent collection of documents, portraits, and period objects, along with temporary exhibitions, guided tours, and educational activities. Its restored colonial architecture and historical importance make it a key site in the construction of national memory and identity.
