Bio / presentation

The Pablo Neruda Foundation is a Chilean non-profit organization established on June 4, 1986, according to the last will of Matilde Urrutia, the poet's widow. Its mission is to preserve and disseminate the poetic, artistic, and humanist legacy of Pablo Neruda. The foundation manages the poet's three house-museums: La Chascona in Santiago, La Sebastiana in Valparaíso, and the Isla Negra House. These houses contain collections of personal items, manuscripts, and artworks, and are open to the public for visits and cultural activities. Additionally, the foundation organizes workshops, exhibitions, and publishes magazines such as "Cuadernos" and "Nerudiana". It also awards the Pablo Neruda Young Poetry Prize since 1987. The main headquarters is located at La Chascona in Santiago.
