Bio / presentation

Founded in 1946 in London by Frank Lloyd and Harry Fisher, Marlborough quickly gained prestige, showcasing masterpieces by artists such as Degas, Monet, and Van Gogh. In the 1950s, it pioneered exhibitions of German Expressionists and the Bauhaus. In 1962, it opened a New York branch, representing artists like Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud. The Madrid branch, inaugurated in 1992 and designed by Richard Gluckman, focused on monumental sculpture and collaborative exhibitions with major museums. A second branch opened in Barcelona in 2006. Marlborough Spain closed in 2024 after more than 30 years of activity, representing key artists such as Antonio López García, Soledad Sevilla, and Juan Genovés, while collaborating with international museums and collections. Its contribution included large-scale public exhibitions, like the monumental Botero sculpture show in Madrid.
