Established in 2010, Gariza Films is an independent and feminist production company created by filmmaker Lara Izagirre Garizurieta with the intention of producing Basque films that reach the international market. With the desire to expand our culture and language through local stories, with universal themes that connect with a global audience. Gariza Films also works for equality and promoting the role of women in the audiovisual field. Its current editorial line includes projects led by women, producing directors such as Lara Izagirre Garizurieta, Marina Palacio and Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren. Its trajectory includes films such as 20,000 species of bees (2023) by Estibaliz Urresola, Cuerdas (2022) by Estibaliz Urresola, Nora (2020) by Lara Izagirre and Ya no duermo (2021) by Marina Palacio. With these films Gariza Films has participated in international festivals, such as the Semaine de la Critique or the Berlinale, winning awards such as the Silver Bear at the Berlinale or the Golden Biznaga at the Malaga Festival.
