Institut for (X) is a non-profit cultural association based in Aarhus, Denmark. Established in 2009, it operates as a self-managed urban laboratory combining culture, entrepreneurship, and education. The model relies on collaboration among over 600 active members, including artists, designers, architects, musicians, and social entrepreneurs. The space hosts more than 90 workshops and studios, 43 creative businesses, and 22 associations and schools. Located in the Godsbanen area on land provided by the municipality, Institut for (X) promotes citizen-led urban transformation, offering open spaces for creation, learning, and experimentation. Its horizontal structure and focus on sustainability and participation have made it a reference for cultural innovation in Europe.
