Bio / presentation
The Jameos del Agua, located in northern Lanzarote, are a unique natural and cultural site developed within a volcanic tube formed by the eruption of the Corona volcano. Artist César Manrique transformed this space into a cultural center that blends nature and architecture. The complex includes a natural saltwater lagoon inhabited by a blind endemic crab species, a subterranean auditorium, gardens, a restaurant, and a museum. It is one of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers managed by the Lanzarote Island Council. With its geological, ecological, and aesthetic value, it stands as one of the most iconic places in the Canary Islands—a model of sustainable design and a symbol of harmony between humans and the volcanic landscape.
