Javier Mariscal (1950) is a Spanish designer, illustrator, and artist known for his colorful, playful, and groundbreaking style, spanning disciplines such as graphic design, sculpture, animation, and interior design. Born in Valencia, he gained international fame with the creation of Cobi, the mascot of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, characterized by its avant-garde aesthetic and iconic simplicity. His work stands out for a combination of humor, experimentation, and bold use of color, reflected in projects such as the visual identity of the Hotel Puerta América in Madrid and the animated film Chico & Rita (2010), co-directed with Fernando Trueba and nominated for an Oscar.
