Bio / presentation
The Gallery, located in Santander, opened to the public in May 1988 under the name of its founder, Fernando Silió. Since its inception, it has focused on avant-garde art, combining exhibitions by renowned artists with other more novice artists who are establishing themselves in the art market. In 1999, Juan Silió, the founder's son, took over the management of the gallery, initiating a change in its direction by incorporating internationally renowned artists, giving greater prominence to photography and new technologies, and increasing support for young artists. Following the death of the founder, in 2006 it was decided to change the gallery's commercial name, and it made its first appearance at Arco'07 under its current name, Galería Juan Silió.
