LAAV_ is a research and creative space developed by DEAC MUSAC (Contemporary Art Museum of Castilla y León), exploring experimental audiovisual representation through critical, collaborative, and ethnographic methodologies. It merges art and science to study human beings and social groups, questioning authorship, ethnographic authority, and realist aesthetics. LAAV_ promotes self-ethnography, reflexivity, and ethical awareness in creative processes, valuing non-expert knowledge and inclusive practices. It works with groups at risk of exclusion or disappearance, supporting the emancipation of image and sound beyond illustration. The lab becomes a platform for intercultural dialogue, where representation is a critical and transformative act that dismantles universalist impulses and fosters new forms of encounter among voices, bodies, and languages.
