Bio / presentation

Meiji Mura is an open-air museum located in Inuyama, Japan, dedicated to preserving architecture from the Meiji period (1868–1912), a time of modernization and Western influence. The museum houses more than 60 original buildings relocated from across Japan, including churches, factories, residences, hospitals, and schools. Its most famous structure is the lobby of the former Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Visitors can explore the museum by vintage tram or bus, enter the buildings, and take part in cultural workshops and events. Meiji Mura honors Japan’s transition to modernity through its architecture and daily life. It is a unique space where tangible heritage, urban history, and international design converge.
