Bio / presentation
The Atchugarry Museum of Contemporary Art (MACA), inaugurated in January 2022 in Manantiales, Uruguay, is an initiative of the Pablo Atchugarry Foundation. Designed by architect Carlos Ott, the 5,000 m² building features a curved laminated wood structure, harmoniously integrating with a 40-hectare sculpture park. MACA houses seven exhibition halls, a cinema, a theater, a library, and a chapel featuring Atchugarry's La Pietà. Its permanent collection includes works by artists such as Wifredo Lam, Frank Stella, Louise Nevelson, and Ernesto Neto. Additionally, it offers a diverse cultural program with festivals, workshops, and educational activities for all ages. Admission is free, promoting access to contemporary art and positioning Uruguay on the map of major international exhibitions.
