Bio / presentation

The São Paulo Museum of Art Assis Chateaubriand (MASP), founded in 1947 by Assis Chateaubriand and Pietro Maria Bardi, is a private, non-profit institution renowned for its innovative approach to museology and art education. Located on São Paulo's Paulista Avenue, its iconic building, designed by Lina Bo Bardi and inaugurated in 1968, is a landmark of Brazilian modernism, notable for its suspended structure and underlying public plaza. MASP houses a collection of over 11,000 works, including pieces by European masters such as Raphael, Cézanne, and Van Gogh, as well as Brazilian, African, and Asian art. Its exhibition design, featuring artworks suspended on glass easels, offers a unique visitor experience. In 2025, the museum opened a new 14-story tower, increasing its exhibition space by 66% and reaffirming its commitment to accessibility and cultural diversity.
