Bio / presentation
The Tapestry Museum of Zaragoza, located in the former chapter halls of La Seo Cathedral, houses a prestigious collection of 65 Flemish tapestries, of which 23 are currently on display due to their exceptional artistic value. The collection dates back to the 15th century, when archbishops began decorating their chapels and residences in the style of the nobility. The museum was formally established in 1938 and is now part of the cathedral’s permanent exhibition. The display is divided into three rooms. The Gothic Room includes pieces from The Story of Esther (1455). The second room features The Last Judgment, The Seven Deadly Sins, and scenes from The Life of Moses, St. John the Baptist, and The Trojan War. The smaller third room includes The Resurrection of Lazarus and The Daughter of Jephthah. The museum is a rare example of Renaissance textile art and religious visual culture.
