Bio / presentation
The Network of European Museum Organisations (NEMO) was founded in 1992 as an independent network of national museum organisations representing the museum community of the Council of Europe's member states. NEMO brings together over 30,000 museums in 40 European countries. Its goal is to connect European museums and their national organisations to ensure their place in Europe's cultural development. It promotes European policies that support museums as keepers of cultural heritage and facilitates learning through cooperation. NEMO acts as an information channel between European institutions and museums, encouraging participation in existing cultural policies. The network believes in the importance of museums in safeguarding cultural heritage and contributing to better understanding within Europe, ensuring they are an integral part of European life.
