Bio / presentation
Nova Galega de Danza is a dance company based in A Coruña that, over the years, has pioneered a new approach to dance in Galicia. Their work brings tradition into a contemporary framework, going beyond the conventional folkloric experience to give it new meaning. Along this path, Nova Galega de Danza joins the rich journey already explored by Galician roots music. The company is led by Jaime Pablo Díaz. Notable awards include: 4th Prize at the I Dance Marathon of Madrid, 2nd Prize at the I Galician Choreographic Creation Contest, finalist at the XI Spanish Dance and Flamenco National Contest, finalist at the Max Awards for Best New Performance (2005), Galicia Critics' Prize for Performing Arts (2009), and Audience Award at the Mostra Internacional de Teatro de Ribadavia in 2016 and 2020.
