Bio / presentation
The Gran Paradiso National Park, located in the Alps between the Aosta Valley and Piedmont, is Italy’s first national park, established in 1922. Its origin lies in a former royal hunting reserve created to protect the Alpine ibex, now the park’s symbol. Spanning more than 70,000 hectares, it hosts rich alpine biodiversity, glacial landscapes, high mountain meadows, and coniferous forests. The park promotes sustainable tourism, environmental education, and scientific research. It also boosts the local economy through ecotourism and cultural activities. Gran Paradiso stands as a landmark of nature conservation in Europe and is part of a cross-border protected area with France’s Vanoise National Park.
