Põhjala tehas is an independent cultural center located in the Kopli district of Tallinn, Estonia. Housed in a former rubber factory, it has been transformed into a creative and community space managed by the non-profit association MTÜ Põhjala tehas. The center hosts over 100 creative economy initiatives, including artist studios, design workshops, bakeries, cafés, bars, bookstores, coworking areas, and art galleries. It also features community gardens and regularly organizes cultural events such as concerts, exhibitions, markets, and festivals. Its management model is horizontal and collaborative, focusing on urban sustainability and the cultural revitalization of industrial heritage. Põhjala tehas has become a vital hub for alternative cultural life in Tallinn, attracting both local audiences and international visitors. It stands as a leading example of grassroots-driven urban regeneration through the creative sector.
