Bio / presentation

The Royal Association of Official Chroniclers of Spain (RACO) is a public law corporation that brings together the official chroniclers of cities, towns, and places across Spain. Founded with the aim of preserving and disseminating local history, collective memory, and the cultural heritage of municipalities, RACO plays a fundamental role in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. Its members research, document, and narrate oral traditions, customs, festivities, biographies, and the evolution of communities, acting as guardians of living memory. The Association organizes congresses, publishes studies, and promotes the exchange of knowledge among its chroniclers, ensuring that the historical narrative and cultural singularities of each place are not forgotten, contributing to local identity and knowledge.
