Bio / presentation
The Sarawak Cultural Village, located at the foothills of Mount Santubong near Kuching (Malaysia), is a living cultural village showcasing the ethnic diversity of Sarawak state on the island of Borneo. Spread across 17 acres, it features life-size replicas of traditional houses from seven indigenous groups, including the Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, Melanau, and Malay communities. Each house is staffed by cultural interpreters who demonstrate traditional dances, music, crafts, and cuisine. The village hosts daily cultural performances and is home to the world-famous Rainforest World Music Festival. More than just a museum, Sarawak Cultural Village is an educational and touristic platform for intergenerational transmission of intangible heritage, often called “the living museum of Borneo.”
