Bio / presentation

Siega Verde is an archaeological site located in Villar de la Yegua (Salamanca, Spain), designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010 as an extension of the Côa Valley rock art site (Portugal). It features over 90 open-air Paleolithic engravings, mainly from the Magdalenian period, depicting animals such as horses, deer, and bovines. It is one of the most significant outdoor rock art collections in Europe. Siega Verde is protected as a Site of Cultural Interest and offers an interpretation center, guided tours, and educational activities. It is part of the Prehistoric Rock Art Trails network. Its preservation and promotion support scientific research, heritage education, and sustainable rural development.
