SOHO in Ottakring is an urban art project based in Vienna, Austria, launched in 1999 in the Brunnen quarter of the working-class district Ottakring. After many years of organizing annual art festivals, the project shifted its focus to the Sandleitenhof area, the largest social housing complex of Red Vienna. In 2021, SOHO STUDIOS was opened—660 m² of renovated space from a former cinema and museum, now offering studios, public areas, and classrooms in collaboration with the Vienna Art School. The studios serve as an open space for art, culture, and community dialogue. The project emphasizes cultural proximity and neighborhood involvement, supporting local residents in creating and sharing artistic ideas. SOHO in Ottakring envisions a vibrant, inclusive urban life with accessible culture and strong community ties.
